Salma’s Story

Working Towards a Better Future

Salma shoulders the responsibility of being the primary breadwinner for a household of five. She cares for her three children and looks after her younger sister, who suffered a stroke. At times, money is so tight that Salma’s heart breaks at the thought of not being able to buy simple things like shoes for her daughter.

To keep the family afloat, Salma runs her own business selling charcoal. When Salma became a beneficiary of ACE’s Family Preservation and Empowerment Program (FPEP), the skills training and resources she received helped her business to blossom!

With ACE’s support, Salma has expanded her business ventures beyond selling charcoal and is now also making rugs to supplement her income. Along the way, she is imparting knowledge to her children and her older sister, who Salma is training to help with the rug-making venture.

In addition to sustaining her family's needs and growing her business, Salma aspires to invest in a piece of land. This investment would not only symbolize security and stability but also provide a lasting legacy for her children, a place to truly call their own. Salma wants to ensure that her family will not experience the same cycle of hardships that she has.

Salma’s loving nature and entrepreneurial spirit are incredible! The ACE team is dedicated to supporting her on her journey to securing a healthy and prosperous life for her children and family.
