Meet Micah.

Currently there are sixty orphaned or abandoned children in our Crisis Nurseries in Zambia. One of whom is named Micah.

Micah's mom passed away just weeks after his birth, leaving him and his toddler brother orphaned. Micah and his brother have a loving grandma, but due to the strain of the pandemic on her small business she struggled with financial insecurity. Also a widow, she could not care for her grandsons in a moment of crisis. To make sure Micah and his brother received the care they need, grandma brought the boys to the House of Moses where she knew they would be tended to by our trusted caregivers.

Micah and his brother were given loving care with warm blankets, socks and the warm embrace of our caregivers which is so essential in order for babies to feel secure in early childhood. They reached all their developmental milestones and as they began to crawl and walk, they became quite the busy bees of the nursery. They also learned to make friends and develop meaningful relationships with the caregivers and other staff. Their grandmother Linda preserved her relationship with the boys and visited when she could.

When the staff at the House of Moses spoke with Linda further and learned of her financial situation, they recommended her to our Family Preservation and Empowerment Program to help her learn to save and utilize microlending. She is currently working to revive her produce stand business which was ravaged by drought and the effects of the pandemic.

While Linda works to become stable and one day reunited with her grandsons, the security given to them at the House of Moses is a life raft in a time extreme hardship.

Your gift of $6.85 This Christmas helps to make sure that Micah and his brother have the food, shelter and clothing they need while they wait to be reintegrated into their biological family. By December 31st, my goal is to raise $150,000 to ensure that all sixty children in our Crisis Nurseries have the loving care they need for an entire year while they await reintegration or adoption. If you have not done so already, please consider giving to our Christmas Campaign aptly called ‘Give the Gift of Family’. This year, your gift will be doubled and go twice as far to support children like Micah in our Crisis Nurseries!

We can all agree that the best gift around the Christmas tree is the presence of family wrapped in love! Help give the promise of a forever family someday to Micah and every child living in our Crisis Nurseries.
